Walking our 4-feet best friend, Asta, is one of our favorite activities that goes hand in hand with exploring new and old sites.
This time we went to another park that deserves the spotlight: Jardim do Torel, still one of Lisbon’s unrevealed secrets.
Named after its original owner, the garden was part of a late 19th century Palace. In the 1960’s the town hall bought the whole complex and made the park public. In 2009, it went through a renovation project, so nowadays the park is equipped with a café and several seats for open-air lounge.
Jardim do Torel is situated on one of the seven hills of Lisbon which helps the park gain one more point – the view. From here you can see the Tagus river, the São Jorge Castle and the hilly city.
You can access this hidden jewel by Campo Mártires da Pátria or from Avenida da Liberdade where you can use a typical Lisbon cable car, Ascensor do Lavra (National Monument) over here, that is not to miss, especially if you’re new in town.
Here are some photos to invite you to go to Jardim do Torel.
