Have you been to Jardim da Tapada das Necessidades?

Have you been to Jardim da Tapada das Necessidades?

No? Then you should, no ifs or buts about it. 🙂

Our first reaction when we arrived at Jardim da Tapada das Necessidades was: Cannot believe this park has been missing from our list of weekend promenades! It comes to no surprise that OutJazz has chosen it as a preferred setting to stage jazz concerts.

As soon as you step inside, you will be greeted by ducks, gooses, abandoned beautiful buildings, exotic plants and trees, and a large playground, picnic area where everyone is at ease.

The park is quite big – 10 hectares – and it dates back in 1742, when it used to be a private hunting ground for the kings of Portugal. Not many know about this oasis, not even the Lisboetas, as it is situated in a remote area of the city, on Rua Largo do Rilvas, between Alcantara and Lapa.

Go to Jardim da Tapada das Necessidades, not only during OutJazz, but also in the weekends, on sunny days, to walk the dog, to jog, to read, to have a romantic picnic, a photo session, whatever you wish for, this garden makes for a perfect scenery.
